Day 14: Montefiascone - Trevignano (72km - 3:37)
Thursday 6 May
It rained some more last night, but it seemed to have stopped when we went down for breakfast. Unfortunately by the time we were on our bikes it started to pour again!! It was a gradual downhill almost all of the way to Viterbo, and the rain stopped after the first 10 minutes or so.
Our originally planned route was to go up and past the Lago di Vico, but the thought of a lot of climbing when there was an alternative flatter route saw us taking the ring road around Viterbo and the relatively busy but much more manageable SS2 up until Sutri, where we turned south towards Trevignano Romano.
A gentle climb and then a steep descent to the lake saw us greeted by rain once again - we don't seem to be able to arrive in our destination towns without getting drenched! The campsite was after the town proper, on the Eastern shore of the lake. We spent most of the rest of the day in the tent while the rain drizzled on.
Our last night of camping tonight, and we were really looking forward to Rome after all the wet weather riding...
