Day 6: Siena - Castelfiorentino (69km - 3:40)
Wednesday 28 April
Up and out of Siena by 09h30. It took a while to find our way out of the town - lots of busy one-way streets made navigation interesting. Nice green hills that mostly pointed downwards took us to our breakfast stop at Colle Val d'Elsa.
We carried on straight past San Gimignano which was overrun with tourist busses. It was on our route because the town was supposed to be very beautiful with all of its towers crammed inside the city walls, but it was getting quite hot and the thought of fighting through crowds wasn't terribly appealing, despite all the nice things we'd heard about the town.
More downhill/flat got us to Castelfiorentino, a non-descript town not too far from Florence. As usual the tourist office was closed, but we found a hotel for 60eur, dumped our stuff, then took a stroll around the town. Nothing to report in this town!
