The campsite has a beautiful view over the city, but unfortunately was a little short on level ground. We pitched the tent on rather a slope, and tonight's sleep would prove to be interesting with us ending up folded up at the bottom of the tent after a few hours.
Day 7: Castelfiorentino - Firenze (43km - 2:41)
Thursday 29 April
Bananas and biscuits for breakfast, then a short and easy ride took us to the Michaelangelo campsite above Florence. It was pretty easy to find coming in from the south of the city. We knew we were heading back into civilization again from the number of cyclists we saw out on the roads leading into Florence, mostly old men on racing bikes.
The campsite was very well equipped with proper laundry with washers and driers, a shop with internet cafe, ATM, and a restaurant across the road.
We got our tent sorted, did some laundry (which was important because it was about to start raining), and then caught the bus down to the city. We did a shortish wander around just to get our bearings, so that we could plan tomorrow's itinerary.
